On August 2 of 2021 (this would be roughly 13 months prior to writing this post right now), I decided to start writing daily texts to my kids when they’re at school.
I got the idea from Darren Hardy (and his Darren Daily videos) and Ben Newman (and his daily texts he’ll send out to folks who sign up).
I try not to be too impersonally ‘self-helpy’ but at the same time, I want to toss little ideas to them that I think might help them and give them a leg up on life at school or life in general.
We’re Christians, so my heart is that they’ll learn to love others and develop generous spirits as they also learn to grow in doing excellent work and being good students.
Love God. Love People. And be a good steward of each moment. That’s what I pray for them and hope I get better at personally.
What follows is my first text to them on August 2, 2022…. I need to send this one to myself every once in a while!
I love you three more than you know.
I’m praying for a great first day for you. Open hearts. Open minds. Look for an opportunity to brighten someone’s day or serve somebody. That’ll help the nervousness.
And remember that you don’t have to be perfect! Just do your best and develop the habit of doing excellent work and being a kind person.
Proud of all of you.
