I had a thought after I wrote my ‘Burn the Boats.’
What if you don’t know where you should sail your boat? Where do you want to dock your boat?
What is the island you want to conquer?
Burning the boats requires that we figure out which island we want to take.
Many of us have been sailing randomly around, bouncing from port to port based on the whims of other people’s orders, the wind, the currents, the drift.
We took no control over where we were going or weren’t even sure where we wanted to go if we had any control.
We had no idea. No clarity. No autonomy. At least we didn’t realize we had autonomy.
And now someone’s telling you to burn the boats. Succeed or die. Take the island.
First, you have to know which island you want to take.
Where do you want to go?
Figure that out first.
Then burn your boats.
And take the island.
