Where can we push harder, add something extra, power through our required work and do 10% or 20% more?
You first do what you’re supposed to do, and then do a little bit more. Something unexpected. Something unnecessary but helpful. As mental toughness coach Ben Newman calls it, doing the ‘unrequired.’ You do what’s required of you. And then you do something that nobody expects you to do, but everybody’s better for it.
How can we make sure we keep our commitments… and then do just a bit more… in our relationships, at work, for our health, in our mental and spiritual practices, and in our work for the community?
Keep the commitment or maintain the habit, then just look for opportunities to take a couple more steps. Small additions of value that compound over time.
A potentially powerful – even life-changing – principle.
