Nobody Cares

“Nobody Cares” is apparently the theme the Georgia Bulldogs took into training camp this year. It’s the fall of 2022 and the Dawgs won the National Championship last season.

The theme is brilliant because it speaks to the fact that last year’s success does nothing for today’s success.

In the case of the Dawgs, no opponent they face cares if they won last year.

The scoreboard doesn’t care that they lost a bunch of players to the NFL.

Even fans will slowly let last year stay in the past and renew high expectations.

In the same way, nobody cares about your or my circumstances.

Especially in the world of work, people mostly don’t care and don’t want to know what you’re dealing with.

They want you to execute. Regardless.

It’s an important thing to remember because it helps us remember to avoid excuse-making.

Sure, we might get a little grace here and there, but nobody owes us any grace.

We’re better served to assume that the only thing folks care about is the results we bring to the table.

Period.
