I recently heard a sermon on anxiety. There was a ‘bumper-sticker’ statement that I’d not heard before and thought it worth sharing.
We often crucify our present lives between two thieves: Regret about the past and worry about the future.
This was followed up by another similar statement: Worry about tomorrow sacrifices both today and tomorrow.
My job is to consider today and the thing right in front of me. Being anxious doesn’t help. It might be hard to control, but it doesn’t help. Remembering that it’s ineffective might help me say ‘no’ to that particularly useless emotional response to my uncontrollable circumstances.
I needed this today. Thank you.
Well that makes me happy! Hope you have a wonderful one!
